I blogged about this the other day, and a lot of people seemed to like the information about this company that lets you really work from home so I thought I would give the link out to everyone again and tell you a little about the company. The great thing about working with this company is that you don’t have some deadline you have to meet. I signed up for work at home stuff before but I hated feeling pushed to sell. Every year we say what we will and will not do and every year some of us make it and some of us don’t. Well don’t give up. This is a new year and you can do whatever it is that you are aiming for.
Sometimes you might just need that encouraging word from someone. So this is someone, me telling you whoever you are, this year go ahead take control of your life and your health. You can do it and I believe in you!

The Business Card Thing

Wow, I can tell I’m out on a winter break…lol….I have time to write in my blog. First I want to say I hope that everyone had a grat christmas and I want to wish you all a great and happy new year! So I was designing a business card on vistaprint.com (great place to get free business cards by the way) You have some people that don’t really care about what their business card looks like. A white card with their name in the top righthand corner is all they care about. If you are one of those people I first have to say that I just so wish I was you. I’m not like that at all. I like designing things you see and while that is cool sometimes, other times it just gets in the way. So rather than design my own card I was on vista print which has tones of cards already done for you. All you have to do is put your name in there with some stuff like your phone number. How easy is that? Real easy right? They print it all out for you and mail them to you. But some of us don’t want easy, no we have to spend 30 min. to an hour trying to pick the right image and the right text. This last time I did my card though, I said I wouldn’t take a long time. I still came out with a really great card. I learned that you really don’t have to spend so much time on some things when you are trying to start a business. Sure you want to make sure things match and look good, but its not like shopping for shoes.

You want to make money online but you have nothing to sell? Don’t go out and buy inventory unless you really want to. There are companies online that will let you sell for them. Affiliate programs do this for you. Say you want to sell oh, books, or computers, or beauty supplies. Amazon.com has an affiliate program. You can build your own store for free with your name on it. The best part is it is free!

I don’t know how to make a website

Looks do matter when it comes to the way that your web site looks. Before you start making your web sit think about the group of people that you are aiming for. You wouldn’t want a Betty Crocker look if you are aiming at a real estate market group right? Make your page match your customer base.
Now how do you design it? Well there are a lot of templates that you can use online that don’t require any html on your part (But I still recommend that you learn a little) pick a design that matches what you are selling. Avoid using color and fonts that just look plain out silly.
Clip Art?
Should you use clip art? Unless you want a homey craft feel to your page I say no. Using real images updates your page so much. Clipart can really down play that professional look you are going for. Exceptions to the rule are if your site is about scrap booking cooking, arts and crafts, ok then it may be ok. For all other purposes though I strongly recommend that you leave clip art alone.
Where Do I Get Images?
It is tempting to use other people’s work for your website, but don’t do it. Instead go ahead and pay the price to join stock photo or another photo company. Or do a search or free images for your web site. One place that I have found that is really great for free images is Stock. Xchang this site lets people share their work. Under each image you will be able to see if you need the owner permission to use it or not.
